Rimlocks & Nightlatches

        Nightlatch                                                                                      Rimlock

Why buy a Nightlatch?

Buying a Nightlatch is an ideal solution if you have a wooden or metal door. Whether you are simply replacing an existing lock or fitting one from new it is worth considering, when buying a Nightlatch the level of security you need and also the style of lock.

A Nightlatch is suitable for a door that will be used as an access door where it will be slam locked whilst in use, allowing access by use of a key from the outside. Night latches are as an example used on a lot of residential front doors.

A Nightlatch is suitable for a door where convenience is important or to replace or upgrade a Nightlatch currently in place. A Nightlatch, as a rule are used on front doors in a residential property, supported by a deadlock for insurance compliant security.

We always recommend British standard 3621 Mortice Deadlocks to our customers to support Nightlatches especially if the doors are external as they are approved by insurers and for your own peace of mind. If you are looking for an internal Nightlatch or Rimlock you would not be required to fit a supporting Deadlock.

British Standard Nightlatches

British standard Nightlatch locks conform to the BS3621: 2004 for thief resistant Locks. British standard Nightlatch locks are high security door locks that have been rigorously tested for burglar resistance. These locks normally have stronger or additional fittings for extra strength, providing a higher level of security and are what many insurance companies demand to their customers. British standard Nightlatch locks have many extra security features to a standard or Traditional Nightlatch; they have protection against most common forms of attack including lock picking, force, drilling, manipulation and hacksaw. Some of the ranges can be keyed alike for convenience and safety in a fire. We stock British standard locks made by the leading manufacturers, such as Chubb, Yale, Era, Ingersoll, Bramah, etc. We can also supply London bars for most of our Nightlatches to improve frame strength and deadlocks to increase protection. Please call or email us to talk through your requirements

Deadlocking Nightlatch

Deadlocking Nightlatches are a step down from British Standard Nightlatch lock. Deadlocking Nightlatches offer moderate protection to main doors in your home or office etc., but many insurers do not cover doors fitted with them so it is worth checking with your insurers before you buy deadlocking Nightlatch. Some locks listed in this section can be keyed alike for convenience & safety in a fire of use. We stock Nightlatch locks made by the leading manufacturers, such as Chubb, Yale, Ingersoll, Union , Era, etc. We can also supply London bars for most of our Nightlatches to improve frame strength and Deadlocks to increase protection. Please call or email us to talk through your requirements.

Rimlocks

Rim Sashlocks or Rim Deadlocks should be considered as the lowest form of security for a door, we would never recommend that a Rimlock should be used on external doors without a supporting BS3621 Deadlock. Rimlocks are suitable for an internal or external door where you are trying to create layers of security, or for older properties where a Rimlock is currently fitted. We stock Rimlocks by the main manufactures such as Yale, Union and Legge etc. We can also supply horizontal Rimlocks. A Horizontal Rimlock is where the handle is at the same height as the keyway. Once again, horizontal Rimlocks offer the lowest form of security but a BS3621 Deadlock can always support both the above locks. We can also supply a unique surface mounted Rimbox that will house a BS3621 Chubb Deadlock in keeping with older property requirements. Please call or email us to talk through your own specific Rimlock or Horizontal lock requirements
