    Why buy a mortice lock?

Buying a mortice lock is an ideal solution if you have a wooden or metal door. Whether you are simply replacing an existing lock or fitting one from new it is worth considering, when buying a mortice lock the level of security you need and also the style of lock. You will also need to consider a nightlatch.

A mortice sashlock is suitable for a door that will be used as an access door where it will be unlocked whilst in use, allowing access by use of a handle. Mortice sashlocks as an example are used on a lot of residential rear doors.

A mortice deadlock is suitable for a door where it needs extra security to what is currently there. Mortice deadlocks, as an example are used on front doors in a residential property, where there is currently only a night latch.

We always recommend British standard mortice locks to our customers especially if the doors are external as they are approved by insurers and for your own peace of mind. If you are looking for an internal mortice lock then a non-british standard mortice sashlock or deadlock would be suitable to slow potential thieves down.

    British Standard Mortice Locks

British standard mortice locks conform to the BS3621: 2004 for thief resistant Locks. British standard mortice locks are high security door locks that have been rigorously tested for burglar resistance. Mortice locks are embedded in the door for extra strength, providing a very high level of security and are what many insurance companies demand to their customers. British standard mortice locks have many extra security features to a standard 5 lever mortice lock, they have protection against all common forms of attack including lock picking, force, drilling, manipulation and hacksaw. Some of the ranges can be keyed alike for convenience and safety in a fire. We stock British standard locks made by the leading manufacturers, such as Chubb, Yale, Walsall , Era, etc. We can also supply rebate kits for most of our mortice deadlocks and sashlocks, where they will be fitted to double overlapping doors. Please call or email us to talk through your rebate kit requirements

    Five Lever Mortice Locks

Five lever mortice locks are a step down from British Standard mortice locks. Five lever mortice locks offer moderate protection to main doors in your home or office etc. Some insurers still accept fiver lever locks, but many do not cover doors fitted with them so it is worth checking with your insurers before you buy a five lever mortice lock. Some locks listed in this section can be keyed alike for convenience & safety in a fire of use. We stock five lever mortice locks made by the leading manufacturers, such as Chubb, Yale, Walsall , Era, etc. We can also supply rebate kits for most of our mortice deadlocks and sashlocks, where they will be fitted to double overlapping doors. Please call or email us to talk through your rebate kit requirements.

    Three Lever Mortice Locks

Three lever mortice locks should be considered as the lowest form of security for a door, we would never recommend that a 3 lever mortice lock should be used on external doors. 3 lever mortice are suitable for an internal door where you are trying to create layers of security, to slow any potential thief down. We stock 3 lever mortice locks by the main manufactures such as yale, era and Legge etc. We can also supply rebate kits for most of our mortice deadlocks and sashlocks, where they will be fitted to double overlapping doors. Please call or email us to talk through your rebate kit requirements
